Emotional trauma had already left its scars by July 2004 when Catherine Pierre-Rosia first
met Selesor. Selesor was mute, and no one knew her age. By looking at her teeth, Catherine
estimated she was about 8 years old.
When Selesor was a baby her mother died, her father could not care for her, and she was
found salvaging food on a garbage dump. The family who rescued Selesor intended to help
her. But unable to handle her emotional needs, she was physically abused. The day
Catherine met Selesor in 2004, her little arms and belly were oozing with sores. Catherine’s
heart cried within her because she knew Selesor needed a loving home she could call her
own.
A few months later while at her church in Philadelphia, a man of God told Catherine that God
wanted her to open an orphanage in Haiti. In July 2005 Catherine began Ma Maison
Orphanage with 4 children- 2 boys and 2 girls.
Now Selesor has a loving home she can call her own, “Ma Maison” (“My House”). Today
these children (and more) are being cared for, and Selesor attends a school where her
special needs are met (paid for by Ma Maison Orphanage). Selesor is talking and developing
beautifully.
The dangerous streets of Haiti are filled with abandoned children like Selesor. Suffering in
Haiti from poverty and hunger is unimaginable. To house more abandoned children, we need
a bigger “maison”, a bigger house. We have a piece of land, but we need funds to build a
larger building. Funds are also needed to buy food, pay loving caregivers, and to send these
children to school.
We are God’s Hands and His Feet. Matthew 26:36 says, "I was naked and you clothed me. I
was sick and you visited me. I was in prison, and you came unto me.” Ma Maison Orphanage
needs your prayers and financial support. Please help give a home to more kids like Selesor,
a home they can call their own.
You can donate to Ma Maison through Hope Alive. Simply note "Ma Maison" on your check or
designate Pay Pal.
Many Thanks !
